    This course equips you with the skills and knowledge you need to form and articulate a clear and concise research question that’s relevant, interesting and fundamentally researchable.

    Learning Outcomes

    This course will help you to:

    1. Recognize the importance of a strong research question and how this can benefit investigation
    2. Evaluate different factors to select and refine a suitable research topic
    3. Identify the features of a good research question
    4. Formulate a hypothesis within your research question and identify the variables within your research
    5. Turn a research topic into a tangible research question 
    6. Form a research question that is appropriate for your topic, plausible in terms of scope and resources, and a solid foundation for gaining insight
    7. Critique and evaluate your own research question according to a set of criteria

        Zina O’Leary is an internationally-recognized leader in research methodologies, and has a keen interest in the application of research to evidence-based decision-making. Zina is a Senior Fellow at the Australia and New Zealand School of Government where she coordinates research and project units for their Executive Masters and Executive Education Programs.

          This module will help you to:

          1. Turn your research topic into a question ready to be researched
        • Module Six: How Do I Know if My Question Is Any Good?

          This module will help you to:

          1. Critique and evaluate your own research question according to a set of criteria

        • Post-Course Self Assessment

          Now you’ve completed the course, spend a few moments reflecting on where your familiarity with the topics and your confidence skills levels are at now.
