  • Course Overview

    This course teaches an overview of journal publishing, informing you how to take advantage of different publishing opportunities. It provides an insight into the shift to digital publishing and evaluates the different publishing models, and also gives the necessary information for assessing your options when publishing your research.

    Learning Outcomes

    This course will help you to:

    1. Understand the development of Journal article publishing and how this impacts the decisions you make when publishing
    2. Compare the different models of the journal landscape to assess what avenue to take when publishing an article
    3. Evaluate the benefits of publishing your research in order to make an informed decision on how best to publish your journal article


    From time to time, we will refer to SAGE’s own specific publishing practices so that we can give you the most specific and practical guidance possible. However, these processes will likely be applicable to other journal publishers. If in doubt, always check their guidelines.

        1. Evaluate the benefits of publishing your research in order to make an informed decision on how best to publish your journal article

        Now you’ve completed the course, spend a few moments reflecting on where your familiarity with the topics and your confidence skills levels are at now.
